Education
The Visalia educational system is anchored by the Visalia Unified School District (www.visalia.k12.ca.us) and College of the Sequoias (www.cos.edu). California State University – Fresno has a satellite program, located on the COS campus, which enables students to acquire a four-year degree in Visalia. Visalia also has several private grade schools as well as a variety of private post-secondary, business, and vocational colleges.

Visalia Unified School District
Visalia Unified School District comprises 22 elementary schools, four middle schools, four high schools, a school for the developmentally disabled, and an adult school. Visalia has the highest API K-12 district score in Tulare County. API growth for Visalia Unified (94 points) surpasses the county growth (78 points) and the state growth (72 points). Of the 1,516 students in the graduating class of 2009, 1,247 have been accepted to and will enroll in college. Visalia Unified offers a wide array of Advanced Placement courses, as well as a commitment to the arts and athletics.

College of the Sequoias
College of the Sequoias’ main campus is home to more than 10,000 students from Visalia and its surrounding communities. The college offers career technical training, in areas as diverse as dairy processing, welding and graphic design, and provides a foundation for students interested in continuing their education. Students at COS earn an Associate of Arts or Sciences degree, a full RN degree, or various certificates or they may enroll in on-campus courses offered by California State University – Fresno.

Brandman University
Brandman University focuses on the needs of adult students, offering programs at convenient times and locations. Brandman University currently offers courses on a campus in central Visalia with new classes starting every 10 weeks.

Fresno Pacific University
Fresno Pacific University has expanded its programming in Visalia. The new Visalia Center campus at near Highways 198 and 99, allows FPU to provide more programs for graduate students and working adults seeking to complete their bachelor’s degree. Currently, the Visalia Center supports bachelor’s degree programs in liberal studies, organizational leadership, and business management. Education credentials and master’s degree programs are also offered.

San Joaquin Valley College
San Joaquin Valley College is a private junior college, offering programs in three areas of study – Allied Health, Business, and Technical. All programs lead to an Associate of Science degree.

University of Phoenix
University of Phoenix is the largest private university in the nation. UOP offers fully accredited bachelor’s and masters’ degrees in business and nursing. Degree programs include business administration, nursing information systems, management and accounting, as well as masters’ programs in business administration, organizational management, and nursing. UOP offers classes in downtown Visalia.
